TRANSCRIPT

Hello and welcome to PASPAC Podcast your Audio passport from Physician Assistant Student to Certified... and beyond, - with your host, Rebecca Harrell, MPA, PA-C.

Today, our destination is an introduction to PASPAC, myself, and what's in store for the show. So sit back, relax, and let's get started.

Hey everyone, it's Becca - I'm the creator and host of PASPAC. I want to get started by thanking you all for tuning into the show whether you're a friend, a colleague, a follower of PASPAC Podcast on Instagram or someone who is on their PA journey that just stumbled upon our pod. Your interest and support truly means the world and I cannot wait to see how the community grows over time.

To introduce myself, I'm a New Grad PA-C currently practicing at a psychiatry clinic in Texas, but I actually hail all the way from Virginia - where I was born and raised and graduated from Eastern Virginia Medical School with my Master of Physician Assistant. My education before PA, was a Bachelor of Science in Biological Anthropology from Virginia Commonwealth University, where I developed my love for both travel and cultural awareness that I really hope to integrate well into the content here.

I have always had a passion for educating others and really had this dream of starting a PA education podcast after I found a lot of joy in tutoring some amazing individuals in the Class of 2023 that stuck with me for both Clin Med 1, 2, and 3 - and if you all are listening right now, thanks for always supporting me and giving me the confidence to take a chance as an educator for anyone right now on their PA journey that's tuning in.

I have a lot of ideas for the show, but because I'm a New Grad already overwhelmed with life - I know I have to be patient with myself. But I want to share with you all what you can definitely expect moving forward.

This show will have main episodes that will focus on a question and answer review of High Yield content geared toward Clinical Medicine, EORs, and the PANCE / PANRE. I really wanted the first season to be as all encompassing as possible, so you can expect this season to give you an in-depth High Yield review of each rotation, starting with Emergency Medicine. Even if you're not in your Clinical Year, these episodes will be filled with a ton of relevant information for those intense Clin Med exams - so definitely don't sleep on them during didactic.

I will also have bonus episodes covering a wide range of topics for wherever you are on your PA timeline - Pre-PA, PA-S, New Grad (like me), or a well seasoned PA-C. For example, I already have two lined up to drop really soon that go over my top five study tips and another one set up like a mock interview with an answer review at the end to help anyone preparing for their PA school interview.

In the future, I hope to bring some guests on the show in order to bring a multitude of perspectives on topics including life as a new grad, preparing for job interviews, how to negotiate salaries, and so on. Intermittently, I'll drop some rapid review episodes which will cover mixed content to really help you all prepare for the EOC, PANCE and PANRE.

Right now, you can find a huge amount of resources on my website that will be useful for whatever you're doing right now - whether that's drowning in anatomy and pathophysiology, pharmacology, rotations, gearing up towards the PANCE or even preparing for retirement. I have you covered over there at WWW.PASPACPODCAST.COM. You'll also find show notes and transcripts there so you can have all the information given here on this podcast at your fingertips, without feeling rushed to take any notes. You'll also be able to locate any and all resources I used on the show there as well and some blog posts dedicated to other topics that are too small for the show but too large to pass on. At the moment, I have posts about tips on how to figure out what high yield is, tips for test taking, and finding the best note taking strategy.

If you don't already follow PASPAC on Instagram, please do at PASPAC_PASSPORT -- P. A. S. S. P. O. R. T. where you will find near daily questions, one minute mini quizzes on the story a few times a week, and weekly wrap ups in healthcare, where I focus on topics that you should be aware of as a provider or future provider, why it matters, and how to help. I would definitely recommend checking those out and then also heading over to the cultural competency resources page on the website to really help ground your practice into one of both appreciation and tolerance so you can be the best advocate you can't all of your patients or future patients.

If you don't already know about SmartyPANCE or Picmonic yet, I am really excited to announce I partnered with both of them to get you some sweet discounts. Both of those resources I used all throughout didactic and clinical year to help me succeed, so I highly suggest looking into them. The discount codes for those are both on my Instagram and website, but if you want to know the now you can get ten percent off your SmartyPANCE subscription with the code PASPAC and twenty percent off your Picmonic subscription the code PASPACPASSPORT. Always know, I will only ever recommend resources to you all that either my classmates or I found to be extremely beneficial during the program, and both of those resources were CRUCIAL.

I can't wait to start this journey with you all. Please reach out on either Instagram or the website for any show recommendations or feedback you have, and comment, like, subscribe to all the things to help bring PASPAC to a friend, colleague, classmate, really anyone you think would benefit from the show.

Thanks for tuning in for the introductory episode and safe travels, y'all.

Thank you for joining me today on PASPAC. I hope you enjoyed the show and learned something along the way. Until next time, safe travels.
